HOSPICE CARE

We would like to thank the local hospice teams that provided valuable input into the design of our very special hospice unit. Your care and insight have helped us enhance our mission to provide the highest quality health care and supportive services for older adults within a warm and nurturing environment that respects Jewish values and traditions, and to care for the aged without regard to individual resources, within a framework of fiscal responsibility.

We invite all certified hospice groups to work with our patients and their loved ones regardless of religious, social, or professional affiliation.

Hospice Care Unit
Our goal for most residents is to recover and return home or, at least, to their prior functionary levels. However, as experience healthcare professionals, we understand that it is not an attainable goal for every situation.

Patients at the end of life cannot be "cured" of their illness, but this by no means makes them any less worthy of excellent care.

The professionals at the Cedars at the JCA believe end-of-life care is as specialized as an discipline. That is why we eagerly accept the assistance of existing hospice companies to work together with our staff to ensure high quality of care and compassion.

Caring for your loved one
End-of-life care addresses the special needs of the patient, but the care doesn't end there. Loved ones of the patient also have specific needs. Our hospice unit provides ample space for the family to be close to the patient during his or her final days. Our hospice suites provide a living space for families; some with bedrooms to accommodate overnight stays.

Although we consider ourselves the backbone of the Jewish healthcare community, all denominations are welcome and our staff is well-educated on the specific needs of particular religious practices during the end of life.

Special needs for special times
Our therapy department offers services necessary to extend the quality of life or to enhance comfort during the end of life. Positioning, splinting, adaptive equipment and various other aspects are adapted to provide relief and comfort at any stage of care.

Our nursing department completes regular pain assessments to ensure your loved one's comfort. In addition to pain medication, there are multiple methods available to help with comfort and quality of life. Specialty mattresses, oxygen/respiratory therapy, and various adaptive equipment is available upon need.

Our dietary department ensures your loved one has access to foods they desire and can tolerate, enhancing his or her quality of life.

Please call us today for a tour. After all, your loved one deserves the best!
